Skin care routine that works

A good skin care routine will help you have a healthy glowing skin. It will also improve the quality of  your life by preventing various skin conditions.  Create a skin care routine that works through a consistent journey that’s filled with wonderful discoveries.

Everyone’s skin is different so finding what works best for your skin is very important. Here are a few things that you can focus on to create a skin care routine that works for you.

Products

A good skin care routine is as good as the products you use. Using the right product will make your skin look and feel radiant.

So choosing the right product should be done  thoughtful. As a result you will get your money’s worth and a product that works for you. Below are a few things to consider when shopping for skin care products.

Your skin – start by knowing your skin type. Most beauty stores have service to help you discover this. This will help you  know the kind of product that will work best with your skin.

It will also help you understand how to take care of your skin. For Example if you have sensitive skin you will start taking precautions about how you treat it. Similarly if you have dry skin you can now start focusing on making sure your skin is hydrated.

Ingredients –  after knowing your skin type, research the kind of ingredients that will be good for your skin. Read the ingredients in products before buying, to make sure the product has the right compounds. It will take extra time to get it right but it’s worth it.

Get a sample –  most skin care brands have sample bottles that you can ask for, most of the time for free. Tyring the sample first will help you in making a good decision when it comes to buying. Because you would have known how it reacts to your skin and if it’s worth your money.

Price – the price of skin care products varies massively between brands. Sometimes you can find a cheap product that works really well with your skin. Other times you might find an expensive product that does not work well with your skin. If it makes your skin glow, then it’s worth every penny. Just try to not blow your bank away, because it’s possible. As you learn more about your skin you will discover ways to create a balance between expensive and cheap.

What you eat

Sometimes what we eat can have a negative effect on our skin. Take the time to know your skin, it might be reacting to something you ate. For example I know for sure dairy based pastries  and junk food makes my skin break out. And I know drinking lemon tea or lemon water, after eating a chocolate cake makes my skin break out less. Look for patterns in your breakouts and what might cause them. Then you will discover a way to alleviate them without spending money.

Drink more water

Drinking more water will help you achieve a glowing, radiant and healthy skin. Some of the benefits of drinking more water includes maintaining pH balance that helps in keeping your skin healthy.  It’s important to know that your skin will thrive with the right amount of water. Without water, your skin may become prone to various skin conditions such as dry skin, acne or early wrinkles. Besides these, there are so many health benefits of drinking more water.

Hormones

Everybody is different but I know some girls’ experience skin break out during their periods. I know I do. During this time try to be tender with your skin.

Personally, during this time I do not exfoliate my face. I use a moisturizing mask twice a week and make sure I follow my night time routine without a miss. I also try not to worry about any breakout at this time of the month, because I know it goes away after a few days.

Beauty sleep

I know this is not easy for some people but getting quality sleep will also help in making your skin glow. It’s called ‘beauty sleep’ for a reason. Simply put, quality sleep contributes to your skin health.

I love this post and am a big believer in using the right products for your skin type. Eating clean and drinking lots of water is an absolute must and I can see a big difference if I do not ensure that I drink my water every day. I also always get 7 to 8 hours of sleep as I love my sleep and t is much needed for everyone as your body heals and works on itself while you are sleeping. Thank you so much for sharing and will be back to read more 🙂

I need more beauty sleep for sure. I actually just did some skin care today. I agree what you put on the inside will def radiate on the outside.

Hi Holly, it’s one step at time, if you manage to do one thing a day that’s a win.

Skin care can be a struggle. I noticed a lot of the issues can come from your dieting and what you put into your body. I’ve been trying to drink lots of water while monitoring the products I use and the length to give it sometime to work

This is so helpful! I’ve been using the same skin care products for years and have been wanting to switch things up but am terrified of trying a product that might make me break out..also my skin is never so clear as when I’m properly hydrated

It’s so important to drink water. I think people take for granted how much that helps with your skin.

With a citrus allergy the hardest part is finding skin care that helps with my dark spot that doesn’t include citrus. It’s so hard lol but I’ve been using a few products with ginger and vitamin c which is great. Love your break down

I found out that proper hydration, sleep and food makes such a big impact on our skin. Also natural skin products play big role too. Great post.

I definitely have a routine I stick with every day, it’s a must! It’s almost like striking gold when you find a product that works perfectly. Now if only there was something to do with breakouts caused by hormones ; )
