Styling a bathroom can be one of those challenging things you could dread doing, especially if you have a small bathroom. Where big or small doing a full bathroom renovation can be costly.  However, you could use affordable and simple bathroom accessories to enhance the design of any bathroom regardless of size. So here are a few styling ideas for your bathroom.

The first few styling ideas for your bathroom is adding dual functional storage items. There are a variety of  storage options that you can add  to your bathroom to improve style. Adding storage accessories will also help keep your bathroom clean and decluttered.  If you have a small bathroom, opting for dual functional items can be a good idea, as you will be killing two birds with one stone.

For example, a ladder will add style to your bathroom and can also be used for storage. Ladders are not overly expensive and you can easily replace then when you are ready to do a full scale remodelling. Given that they are openly visible, ladders will help with reducing clutter. Because as a decor item they are only beautifully looking with minimal things on them. Other affordable storage options to consider are, baskets, open shelves or cabinets.

A plant can add life and colour to any room in the home and bathroom is no exception. Having a plant in your room can bring some proven health benefits. For example, some plants are air purifiers making them not just a decor accessory but an essential item in your bathroom. Based on a  NASA study,  indoor plants could help with reducing chemicals such as formaldehyde from air thereby improving air quality. Besides there is nothing you need more in your bathroom as quality air. 

Because bathrooms have higher humidity the plant will not need as much water to thrive. Look out for more info to know what type of plant best suite your bathroom. For example, peace lilies thrives in high humidity and is proven to absorb airborne toxins such as moulds. They  also thrive in low light making them perfect for a bathroom with poor natural lighting


Incorporating simple and little items into your decor like a stool will effortlessly enhance the style of your  bathroom. Based on your personal preference you can go modern, rustic or just a simple minimal stool can do. If you already have a towel rail you could corniate these two together to create cohesion with your theme. Additionally some stools can also act as hidden storage if you need items that you can use for more than one function.

This is a good option if you have a small bathroom and would like to  give the illusion of more space. Mirrors are can be a good addition to your bathroom if coordinated well with the rest of the decor as they will add more depth. Depending on your preference you could also use a mirror as dual functional item and go for a mirror with cabinet attachment.

Alternatively decorative mirrors will enhance and lighten up a big bathroom, while adding depth to a small bathroom. There are a variety of options for decorative mirrors from vases to frames. Based on your preference you will find rustic chic, modern or vintage options.

Adding new towels will definitely lighten up your bathroom. You could also buy a pair just for decor purposes. Especial if you decide to try a ladder as accessory.

Natural rug

Adding a rug that is in cohesion with your theme, can also enhance the look of your bathroom. Jute is a good sustainability and eco friendly option to consider,  because its source from natural fibers. They are also easy to clean, soft and durable. One disadvantage of jute is that its high absorbent and can be an inconvenience in a smaller bathroom.

    I never thought about adding a plant to the bathroom but it definitely adds a nice appeal. Now I have to go plant shopping.

    I can’t even with all these beautiful bathrooms! I love the second tub! I grew up with a claw foot tub and they are great for baths but not so much for showers lol
